Add users

You can select the checkbox labelled Send an activation email now” when you’re setting up the user. But the user often doesn’t click on the activation link in the automatically generated email (either because they’re not sure what it is or they don’t see the email before the link expires). So when you’re setting up a user, copy the activation link and email it to them from your inbox.

To copy the activation link, open the user’s details and select the user settings drop-down (cog icon) in the right sidebar. Select Copy activation URL…”. You’ll probably be asked to enter your password again, then a window will open with the activation link in it. This link will expire in 24 hours.

When adding a new user, don’t forget to set their permissions so that they have access to the control panel (under the tab labelled Permissions”). The easiest way to do this is to add them to a user group or make them an admin. To add the user to a user group, e.g. Editors, select the checkbox for that user group then select Save”. You can make the user an admin by selecting the checkbox labelled Admin’.

A user group has been created for editors, which gives the user permission to edit the entries and assets without having permission to the user settings, utilities, and SEOmatic plugin settings (they can still edit the SEO fields in the entries). The Utilities” section includes Updates, the System Report, PHP Info, System Messages, Asset Indexes, Queue Manager, Caches, Deprecation Warnings, Database Backup, Find and Replace, and Migrations.
