Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies already interact with many aspects of people’s lives. Their rapid development has resulted in increased national attention on AI and surrounding policy.

In November 2022, we conducted a survey of over 4,000 adults in Britain, to understand how the public currently experiences AI.

We asked people about:

Their awareness of, experience with and attitudes towards different uses
What they believe are the key advantages and disadvantages
How they would like to see these technologies regulated and governed
